Cultural tourism integration empowers all-for-one tourism

In mid-January, a cultural tourism promotion event was held in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Dozens of star guides, Internet-famous celebrities in the prefecture gathered here to promote colorful New Year customs, traditional festivals, cuisine and winter travel products of Yongshun County.

Relying on the beautiful natural scenery and the primitive and simple Tujia villages, Laosicheng actively embraces new opportunities. Yongshun County boasts beautiful natural scenery, rich historical and cultural heritage, and rich ethnic customs. It has 26 national level tourism brands, including one world cultural heritage site, one world geopark, and multiple national scenic spots.

There are also 11 national intangible cultural heritage projects, including Tujia hand-waving dance and Maogusi dance.

Every night, the national tourism performance “The Carnival of Bifzivkar in Furong Town” is staged in Furong Town. The performance takes the landscape as the backdrop, and utilizes modern technology to immerse tourists in it and make them reluctant to leave. “In 2023, the scenic area received over 6 million tourists and generated about 5 billion yuan in tourism revenue,” a staff member of the scenic area said. In 2020, the scenic area presented the Tusi history of 800 years on the stage, which widely spreads Tujia culture and promotes the rapid development of tourism in the scenic area.

Yongshun County fully explores resources such as Tusi culture, Tujia culture and folk culture. A series of festivals like the tourism development conference were held to enhance the reputation of beautiful Yongshun.

Meanwhile, it has further promoted the development mode of “plus tourism” and “tourism plus”, continuously enriched the tourism formats, and developed itself into an attractive tourist destination.

The integration of culture and tourism empowers all-for-one tourism. In 2023, Yongshun received a total of over 10.4226 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 17.18%, and achieved a tourism revenue of 10.627 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.2%. It was approved as one of China’s top 100 counties with comprehensive tourism competitiveness in 2023.
